I'm not sure if I have blogged about this before, but if there is one thing I am drawn to at restaurants, it's fish tacos. If they are on the menu and I haven't tried them yet, chances are I will order them. So, when HelloFresh had Baja Fish Tacos with slaw, chipotle mayo and pickled veggies on the menu, I had to order! And I am normally not a huge fan of radishes, but the pickled radishes in this dish gave the tacos just the right amount of crunch and had great flavor--I almost skipped them on my tacos, but I'm glad I didn't.
A clarification on this one...I almost NEVER fry anything. I just normally don't prefer the taste (or calories!) and doesn't really appeal to me. So I had a hard time cooking this one and a hard time making it look pretty. In fact, my fish looked horrible! Here's a photo (not pretty!):
I know, it's pretty embarrassing...but trust me, it tasted a lot better than I make it look! I think I didn't use enough oil here--I was trying to spare the fat and calories. The batter kept sticking to the pan when I tried to turn the fish. But, once it was put together and layered with the veggies and sauce, it looked fine. And they tasted great--honestly, I would have been happy if I had ordered these at a restaurant! For four servings, I had to fry in two batches, and the second batch worked a little better when I added more oil.
So order these if you can--I'm sure your meal will turn out looking way better than mine! (Evidence below.)
