I have been lax with my blog updates lately, but this meal deserved a great review, so I had to share!! I have said this before, but this HelloFresh meal is our favorite so far!! First of all, I rarely ever fry foods--I generally don't prefer the taste (unless we are talking French fries or tater tots!) and I don't like the idea of using a lot of oil to cook with. But, I was having a major Chinese takeout craving last week when I picked my HelloFresh meals, and this one sounded good. And it WAS!
My daughter and I have been making a lot of HelloFresh meals together lately. Her cooking skills have really improved, and it's more fun when you have someone to help out. She helped me make this one, and thought it was her favorite meal, also. There were two of us working together, so the prep didn't seem that bad. We made a 4-serving meal, so the chicken needed to be fried in two batches. It made quite a bit, but we all liked it so much that we ate the entire thing.
My daughter used some leftover orange zest and sprinkled some on the top at the end--I thought it gave the chicken a little more depth of flavor. She said later she thought it would be good with some toasted sesame seeds sprinkled on top, but by that time we'd eaten it all! It was served with some plain jasmine rice--perfection!! Sadly, I think this one would be more difficult to reproduce on your own--not sure where to find the "sweet soy glaze"--does anyone know? I like it so much that I may try it, anyway.
